I’m not sure what would be hell, how might it look like, and much less, where would hell would be. In fact, I haven’t absolutely none curiosity in knowing about it. Too much has been said about the hell. We have countless theories about hell. Since the mythological hellhistories of our grandparents, who taught us as being a place where the Old Nick awaits the evildoers at the entrance door with an incandescent trident, until the theories of Jehovah’s Witnesses, who deny eternal suffering, replacing it by final annihilation. Nothing scares me more about hell than a simple and uncontested truth about it. What scares me is not what can exist there, much less where may be. What scares me is not the intensity of the pain that can exist there, much less who can be the Big Boss, whatever the name that we can call him. What scares me is not if there is fire, sulfur or even grinding of teeth. None of this frightens me more than what does not exist there.

My greatest despair, my greatest anguish, my greatest fear is that there, it is the place of the absolute absence of God. The greatest and most agonizing pain of hell is to live far from God, eternally. We were created by God and to Him. To live far from God is to live without life, it’s to live an eternal death. The avant-première of hell is here, on earth, for those who live as if God did not exist. So also, the heavenly avant-printemps is here, on earth, for those who seek to live close to God. This makes perfect sense: … your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59: 2). Think about it!
